Thesis and Dissertation Templates

Last updated: April 2023

If you are having trouble downloading the template, try using a different web browser. If the problem persists, reach out to a SAC representative and we will send it to you.

Note: There are some small bugs in this template as it relates to the margins and table of contents. We will try to find a permanent fix and update the template, but until then you can fix these bugs by reverting the TeX Live Compiler from “2022” back to “2021” (see https://www.overleaf.com/blog/new-feature-select-your-tex-live-compiler-version#How-Switch). Thank you for your patience!

Master’s and Ph.D. Planners

These Excel templates let you keep track of and plan out your credit hours by semester to ensure you are on pace to meet graduation requirements for your degree. They also contain information on the required total credit hours and the breakdown of hours by type (graded courses, independent study restrictions, etc.). Every degree plan will be unique and may take longer or shorter than is shown. The template is modifiable so you can tailor it to suit your individual plan.
Note: If you have your Master’s from a different university, see Danika about how your Master’s hours will transfer towards your Ph.D. requirements.

Here are examples of a filled-in Master’s and PhD template. THESE ARE FICTIONAL EXAMPLES – NOT A PLAN YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW. The purpose of these is so you can see some of the different ways classes, independent study, and research hours may fit into your plan.
